From 1980 to 1984 he worked in the Ruhr mining industry.

He entered the profession of protecting intellectual property in 1984, from 1990 to 2023 in the Essen-based law firm Patentanwälte Spalthoff & Lelgemann, and since January 1, 2024 at Moser Götze & Partner Patentanwälte mbB.
